Estimation of gold in urine by atomic absorption spectroscopy.
نویسنده
چکیده
The gold toxicity occasionally encountered during the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis by chrysotherapy may be conveniently treated with chelating agents to facilitate the urinary excretion of gold. It is of interest to monitor this urinary gold excretion, atomic absorption spectroscopy being a convenient technique. Although serum gold concentrations may be estimated after simple dilution (1), when the matrix effect caused by proteins may be compensated for by the addition of protein to the standards, urinary gold estimation does not allow such a simple solution because of variable molecular absorption.

Estimation of gold in serum by atomic absorption spectroscopy.
The therapeutic use of gold compounds is of considerable antiquity, as discussed by Nineham (1); it has been used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis since 1927 (2). Treatment in the past has been largely empirical. Until the advent of the atomic absorption spectrophotometer the estimation of gold in biological fluids by classical chemical or other methods was beyond the capability of the...

Gold nanoshells are a new type of nanoparticles including dielectric cores with a continuous thin layer of gold. By varying the core diameter, shell thickness, and the ratio of these parameters, the optical properties of gold nanoshells can be tuned to have maximum absorption in the visible and near infrared spectrum range. The purpose of this research was to synthesize gold coated SiO2 nanos...
متن کاملIndirect Determination of Ascorbic Acid by Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy
A new and simple method followed by atomic absorption spectrometry has been developedfor indirect determination of ascorbic acid (AA). The proposed method was based on the oxidationof AA to dehydroascorbic acid with Cu2+cation(200mgL-1)in an ammonium thiocyanatesolution atpH2.4. AA reduces Cu2+to Cu+followed by the precipitation of Cu+ with SCN-. Then, the excess ofCu2+in the solution was measu...
متن کاملSurface Enhanced Raman Scattering of Crystal Violet with Low Concentrations Using Self-Assembled Silver and Gold-Silver Core-Shell Nanoparticles
The active substrates in surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy were prepared through self-assembly of nanoparticles on functionalized glasses. Colloidal silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) were prepared chemically in two different sizes by reduction of AgNO3 using trisodium citrate and sodium borohydride. Gold–silver core–shell nanoparticles were also prepared to compare between the o...
متن کاملElimination of Chemical and Spectral Interferences in Measurement of Trace Elements in Urine and Blood by Combined Electrodeposition-Electrothermal Atomic Absorption Spectrometry
A combined electrodeposition-ETAAS technique has been applied to the analysis of Pb, Cd, Co, Ni, Cr and Mn in biological samples in order to overcome interferences and to minimize sample pretreatment. It requires minimal sample preparation with the electrolysis process aiding partial decomposition of the organic matrix, adequate for the release and deposition of trace elements. In an initia...
